Ard Bia Gallery’s new satellite project space located in Berlin, incorporates a residency program and exhibition space with a mission to cultivate research, exchange and experimentation in the contemporary visual arts field.
Generating a supportive retreat like environment, the initiative will act as a meeting point, drop in centre, networking facility, project station and transition space for artists and cultural makers engaging with the city.
The project’s residency program started at the end of November 2007 and Ard Bia Berlin’s first season of exhibitions and projects opens in March 2008. The programme includes collaborative endeavors, an experimental music project, independently curated exhibitions, an off-shoot concept publication, workshops, talks and solo- shows with artists from Ireland, Germany, Britian, U.S.A., France and Iceland.
Rosie Lynch, co-ordinator of the Ard Bia Gallery Berlin project is developing and curating the programme in conjunction with Aoibheann Mac Namara of the Ard Bia Gallery, Galway, Ireland. The Berlin project is aimed at supporting Irish artists as well as engaging with current international practices.
